Stone railing is a safety facility made of natural stone, which combines protective function and aesthetic value. It can be traced back to the embryonic form of ritual vessels in the Zhou Dynasty, the emergence of horizontal lattice style railings in the Han Dynasty, and the gradual popularization of stone railings during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. Common materials include granite, bluestone, and marble. Different stone properties can be selected according to different usage scenarios, such as granite being commonly used for outdoor bridges and bluestone being preferred for antique architecture. As a safety facility, stone railings form physical protection through components such as columns and railings, effectively preventing pedestrians from falling and vehicles from deviating. The height of the railing (100-120cm) and the clearance distance (≤ 12cm) follow ergonomic standards [1]. At the decorative level, regional cultural patterns or traditional symbols are often carved. For example, the railings in Jiangnan water towns are mostly carved with landscape reliefs, and the White Marble railings are used in higher buildings to highlight the level. In modern applications, combined with new material technology, various structural forms such as internode type and continuous type have been derived to meet different landscape needs.
